Why You Should Be Cooking With Quality Ingredients

Our taste buds don’t lie. When we eat fresh, high-quality foods, we can truly taste the difference. We’ve all eaten a meaty, GMO tomato, and a fresh off-the vine juicy tomato that is bursting with flavor. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out which one is better. To ensure that you please your taste buds and your body, you’ll want to seek out fresh, seasonal ingredients to cook with. Here’s why.

Nourishing Nutrients

Fruits and vegetables supply us with many of the vitamins and minerals that are vital to our health. Fresh produce also contains higher water content than other foods, which offers natural hydration. Put simply, fresh produce is amazing for us! Unfortunately, modern agricultural practices produce foods that are full of pesticides and low in nutrients, which not only affects our health but the taste of our food as well. This is why organic produce is important, as more sustainable agricultural practices are used to provide food that is actually healthy.

The Taste

There is a reason why restaurants often offer seasonal menus. Seasonal ingredients are cheaper and more tasty when they are grown and picked during their prime season. We recommend supporting your local farmers market to choose fresh fruits, vegetables, and local cuts of meat, and/or try to shop seasonally when you go to the supermarket. Your meals will taste better and your plate will be full of vibrant color and quality.

Think Like an Italian

Italians take great pride in creating beautiful culinary dishes that satisfy the eyes, the taste buds, and the belly. It is the use of superior ingredients that is arguably the very reason Italians help lead the culinary arts. Additionally, Italians not only value the quality of ingredients that go into a dish, but they cherish quality time of eating and sharing food with others. So, the next time you pick up ingredients from the farmers market or grocery store, try to choose the better quality options to bring more life onto your plate and into the shared experience of eating with others. Simply, think like an Italian.

Why Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished Beef Matters

The term “finishing” refers to the final stage of an animal’s life prior to arriving at the slaughterhouse. Grain-finished cows are finished on unnatural, GMO grain. Thus, the label “grass-fed” can be deceiving as a cow can live part of its life grazing on grass and another part of its life eating grain. Grass-finished refers to cattle that were only fed grass for their entire lives and were never given hormones or antibiotics.
