Taco Seasoning has become such a universal spice, it’s an essential blend to keep on hand in your kitchen. You can use it to season tacos, chicken, beef, and so much more! All you need is a perfectly blended taco seasoning to throw into your favorite dish! Needless to say, no two taco seasoning blends are exactly alike. Colorado Spice taco seasoning consists of chili powder, garlic powder, onion, cumin, paprika, smoked paprika, oregano, sea salt, and new Mexico chili in just the right amounts.
Of course there are the classic dishes like 7 layer dip where you’re used to using taco seasoning. But have you ever made your own taco salad dressing? How about tortilla soup or an enchilada bake? You could even season your popcorn to add a little zest! If you haven’t tried roasted chickpeas with taco seasoning, now is the time to give it a try! They make a great protein-filled snack or salad topper.
For roasted chickpeas, simply Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Drain and rinse two 15-ounce cans of chickpeas. Spread the chickpeas onto a sheet tray lined with paper towels. Dry the chickpeas completely with paper towels and remove the towels from the tray. Pour 1-1.5 tablespoons of olive oil onto the chickpeas and roll them around until they’re evenly coated with oil and place them in the oven for 20 minutes. Some chickpeas will pop in the oven so be careful! Once the chickpeas are crispy, removed from oven and toss with Colorado Spice Taco Seasoning to coat. Now they’re ready to serve and enjoy!
The number or recipes you can utilize this blend in are numerous, but our favorite way is in Colorado Tacos Supreme! To begin, cut 4 chicken breasts into 2-inch strips, each about a quarter inch wide. You’ll want to sauté these strips in a pan over medium heat with your choice of cooking oil until done. Chicken is cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Make sure the chicken strips are firm, not jiggly, and no longer pink.
Next, you can add your Colorado Spice Taco Seasoning. Use anywhere from 2 tablespoons to the entire packet for bold flavor! We recommend also adding half of a small can of diced chilies for an extra punch. You can also add a 12 ounce can of chopped, pitted black olives. Now reduce heat to low and add 12 ounces of shredded cheese and melt the mixture together. Now you’re ready to fill a corn or flour tortilla with your cheesy seasoned chicken mixture and top it off with some lettuce and tomato! Garnish with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole according to taste you and you have a Colorado Taco Supreme!
