Chef's Recipe: In 1T oil, sauté ½ Cup sliced onion; cook until al dente. Add in 1 Cup sliced mushrooms and cook until slightly brown, 5-7 minutes. Add in 1/2 Lb. steak strips, thinly sliced. Cook until pink. Stir in entire packet - Stroganoff Sauce. Add in 1 Cup water. Stir well. Let simmer until sauce is at desired consistency and flavors have blended. Cook to minimum internal temperature of 145° for beef. For sauce only recipe, pour entire sauce packet into a small sauce pan, add 1 Cup water, and bring to a simmer. Let reduce until sauce reaches desired consistency.
